Learn Details About Payment Options and What’s What in a Session

Yes, normally around $50. The deposit goes toward the balance due. The deposit is refundable if you meet the current cancellation policy. You will have a chance to see the current cancellation policy during the booking process.

Venmo, cash, Zelle are preferred. In addition, American Express, Mastercard, and Visa are accepted as credit cards or debit cards. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also accepted. PayPal is one other payment option.

There is an option to pay in full during your booking. Otherwise, if you pay just the deposit, the balance is due at the end of your session, before you leave the studio.

A look is a change in outfits, background or location. Basically, if it takes you a minute or more to change the “look” it constitutes a look change. For example, a change in outfits or ties, or the background, or going from inside to outside. A change in adding glasses or removing them might be a look change if it means needing to adjust lighting as a result. If you put your hair forward or backward, that takes a few seconds. So that might not be a look change. If you quickly take a jacket off too, that might not constitute a look change.

I’m not really counting. I go by trying to see how you feel as we go. For example, if you are giving me a lot of feedback with your posing, we might do more shots than someone who just has one expression after 3-4 shots, even after I try to direct you to change. So, again, it’s based on your comfort. That said, it’s roughly 15-50 shots per look, depending on your feedback with posing and expressions.

Everything has its limits and so will our session. The max time is the total time for your selected session. It starts when you show up (if on time or early) to when it is supposed to end. Showing up late eats into your max time. So, show up on time. For example, if you have a 2 pm slot for a one hour session and you show up at 1:55 pm expect your session to finish by 2:55 pm. If you show up at 2:10, expect your session to finish at 3 pm. Session time includes consult time at the beginning and wrapping up at the end – a few minutes to gather your things and make the payment at the end of your session.

Studio is the use of commercial-grade strobe lighting in a controlled environment inside, with preset backgrounds. It allows us to have the most control over how we use light on you, the subject, and the background. Natural light is where we go outside to use the sun as our source for light but we are at the mercy of where it is and what it is reflecting on, along with other weather elements, passer-bys, etc. at any given time of day. But some people love its look over studio. It is usually good to avoid mid-day for natural light. Sessions accommodate both options if you want studio or natural light. Natural light shots are done on the immediate blocks surrounding the studio.

Most people come prepared, either doing their own styling or having it done by the hair stylist they usually use. Some people like to have a hair and makeup stylist on-site for the session, to truly elevate experience and results. The Light Committee works with a handful of independent artists for this and you can find information about it on any of the headshot services pages.

An online gallery will be emailed to you, typically same to next day, where all the photos are made available to you for download. You get all the photos from the session, just without any retouching. Sessions commonly include a set number of retouches. The gallery is also where you select photos for retouching and buy any extra retouches, if you want.

JPEG. The photos you get without retouching or cropping are sized around 2,500 DPI on the long edge and are less than print quality but high quality for digital display viewing. Retouched photos are provided in three varieties. Each will be cropped in 8×10 or 10×10 inch – photographer’s discretion which works best unless you provide a preference – and this will be print-quality. Then, the same versions of the photos will also be provided in two other web-optimized versions (pre-compressed for you to avoid apps or other website trying to poorly compress them when you upload). Sorry RAW files are not provided.

Retouching is a post-production edit to the photo to enhance the overall look. The goal is to maintain the photo’s natural appeal while making edits that enhance its pop and increases the focus on you. This can involve things like reducing fly-away hairs, blemishes that would not be on your face next week, reducing lint on clothes, etc. A certain number of retouches are included per session. How much retouching is done is at the photographer’s discretion but requests can be made in advance of any first steps for retouching. Additional requests may require additional fees.

Yes, there is an option when you book to add same-day service for an additional fee. You can also contact the studio today to see if an opening might be available later today.

Of course. Head to the contact page and call, text, or email anytime. I totally understand if you want to put a voice to a person or just want to validate this incredible service isn’t a hoax! 😉
