A look is a change in outfits, background or location. Basically, if it takes you a minute or more to change the “look” it constitutes a look change. With modeling digitals, you typically want to wear form-fitting clothes so that your physique can be shown – baggy clothes does not help with this. So, as your primary outfit, you might wear form-fitting pants and a tight t-shirt, for example. As your second outfit, you can be a bit more open about your outfit choice but it’s also your advantage to start to take advantage of a type of niche you might be targeting. If you are targeting e-commerce, then perhaps a summer dress. If you are targeting swimwear, then perhaps a bathing suit. If you want to target fitness, then workout clothes would be good, and so on.

There are two important points with what to wear. First, wear form-fitting clothes. These are clothes that are tight to your body and not baggy anywhere. This is so the viewer can easily see your physique, which is a main goal when submitting your digitals to agencies. Second, is wear dark clothes but they should also contrast well with your skin tone. If you are very dark skinned or very pale, opt for medium gray or similar so your outfit doesn’t blend too much or contrast too much with your skin tone, respectively. If you are a more common medium skin tone, then opt for darker colors, such as black. For shoes, most women wear heels and men wear dark sneakers. Another important thing to note is minimize accessories and also any business on your clothes – minimize or eliminate logos, stripes or patterns, etc. Solid colors are best.

For your second outfit, pretty much anything goes as you should consider targeting a niche so you can start to build a portfolio – fitness, swimwear, high-fashion, etc.

Typically, no. Some people wear a little bit of foundation and this is usually okay but a lot of agencies want you as natural-looking as possible. So, you might want to visit the web pages of the top agencies you want to submit to and see if they suggest something. For your hair, you usually do not want to style it. If you can wear a ponytail during your session, you might also want to get some headshots and profile headshots done with a ponytail in place. So, bring something basic so you can put your hair up.

We will first make sure you have the essentials. These include close-up headshots and full body shots and also profile views of your headshot and full body shots. Once we have these essentials done, we will go after some posed half body and full body shots at a variety of angles. This is where I can help provide guidance with posing, if you’d like. If you have a second outfit, we will do something like this also for your other outfit or other poses appropriate for the second outfit.

The basic difference is the background. There is no standard for how the difference is defined. So, I’ll go over how The Light Committee uses the terms. With a modeling digital, we are trying to make the background as white as possible, head to toe and beyond. It is typically referred to as a seamless white background. You can see examples of these on the Modeling Digitals web page. For Polaroids, the background becomes more real-life. We will use a light-colored wall and the existing floor with its flooring showing. So, the viewer can tell you are in a studio or room. There are examples of these on the Modeling Digitals page too. Neither choice is wrong and each has its unique look. It’s just a personal preference. We can decide together, if you’d like, when you arrive. as the outfits you bring might be a factor.

I’m not really counting. Much of it depends on you arriving on time so being late doesn’t cut into our total time. It also depends on how long our consult takes (typically only 1-3 minutes), and how long it takes you to change outfits, if you are changing outfits. Another factor is how much coaching you might need with posing. But a good estimate is anywhere around 75-125 shots.

Everything has its limits and so will our session. The max time is the total time for your selected session. It starts when you show up (if on time or early) to when it is supposed to end. Showing up late eats into your max time. So, show up on time. For example, if you have a 2 pm slot for a 45-minute session and you show up at 1:55 pm expect your session to finish by 2:40 pm – 45 minutes later. If you show up at 2:10, expect your session to finish at 2:45 pm – 35 minutes later since you arrived 10 minutes late. Session time includes consult time at the beginning and wrapping up at the end – a few minutes to gather your things and make the payment at the end of your session.

An online gallery will be emailed to you, typically same to next day, where all the photos are made available to you for download. You get all the photos from the session without any retouching, as is preferred by agencies when it comes to modeling digitals.

JPEG. The photos you get without retouching or cropping are sized around 3,000 DPI on the long edge and are print quality at 300 DPI resolution. Sorry RAW files are not provided.
