Just about every actor wants to become popular for their work. Most aspiring actors also want to be famous for it. Stephen Covey was quoted as saying, “Begin with the end in mind.” Perhaps this helps people see you the way you want to be seen. In the case of an actor, consider showcasing yourself as an already successful actor. What does this mean?

It is common knowledge that when an agent is considering representing you, they will likely check out your online profiles and any website you might have. When a casting director is considering you, they might likely do the same thing. So, when they go to your social media channels, what will they see? Instead of having them land on profiles with random images and videos, have them land on strategically placed content that helps them see you as the actor you are or can be.

A High Quality Content Feed Just Simply Stands Out

As of this publishing, the top five actors on Instagram are said to be as follows, according to FlixPatrol:

Jennifer Lopez

Zendaya

Kevin Hart

Gal Gadot

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

If you study their feeds, they are posting what movie stars do just about with all posts. There are some occasional posts about off topics or politics but most of the posts are, again, about what move stars do. Some of them are action shots while on a set or similar. You might consider doing the same. So, what are some photo shoot ideas you might consider:

Character Headshots

These are great because they are also great additions to your portfolio of headshots. Think about some of the many types of roles you might want to play: police officer, doctor, detective, soldier, a queen or a king, and so on. Now, get headshots made with these characters so you can post them to your social feeds

You might even work with an actor headshot photographer in Los Angeles so that they can help with lighting and backgrounds to make those character headshots really look the part. For example, a cop character headshot with an appropriate background can be a great social post.

Lifestyle Photo Shoots

With a lifestyle photo shoot, you can showcase you being you but on a premium day. Lifestyle photo shoots can be outdoors with natural light or in a studio setting. It might be you poolside, walking down a nice street with a coffee in hand, in your workout gear jogging.

In-studio, it might be you lounging on a nice couch. Maybe you add an instrument you like to play. Now you are also showcasing the person you are when not acting, but in a premium way. For premium results, again try to find an affordable photographer.

Cinematic Photo Shoots

Now let’s go widescreen. To do so, consider some of Roger Deakins’ work, like with James Bond. Think about some movie scenes you like and recreate them but with your own twist. It might be like that shot of Daniel Craig coming out of the shadows where we see his eyes in the movie Skyfall.

Again, consider working with a photographer for optimal results. These don’t have to be in a studio or movie set like setting either. You can come up with plenty of examples down outdoors.

With just these three ideas you could build a stream to last a year or more with countless posts that help start to shape how you are perceived as an actor.

Showcase Yourself How You Might Want to Be Cast

At its core, the above photo shoot suggestions are start letting the world see you how you might be good for specific roles. This is what the character headshots and cinematic photo shoots help to do. Meanwhile, the lifestyle shots help paint you as an approachable person – someone anyone can get along with.

Now you are showing people you are a brand, even before you are one. In addition, these photo shoots help keep you in the mind frame of a working actor. This is helpful to you subconsciously and a strong way to establish your intent with agents and casting directors.

Demonstrate You Care for the Acting Craft

Movie buffs, audiophiles and the like are seen as experts for a reason – because they know everything about it. So, you might also want to be a student of the trade. You can add that knowledge to the social media posts as you create them.

The image post ideas above are one thing to help show you care for the art of acting. But to then also drop knowledge about acting, well, it will start to shape you as an expert. To provide that one bit more motivation to set you going with this idea, check out this quote:
